HOW DO I GET AHOLD OF YOU?

The easiest way to reach us at Millpond is via email or the contact page here on our website. We are able to respond to emails easily when we have a few minutes free here and there. If you phone during the day it is unlikely the phone will be answered, if you leave a detailed message we will try to get back to you around 8:00am or 5:00pm within the next week.

DO YOU HAVE JUNIOR KINDERGARTEN? PART-TIME?

We offer programs for students in Junior Kindergarten to grade 8 however at this time are unable to accommodate part-time students.

We offer a full-time kindergarten program because we believe every child should have the opportunity to fully participate in all our activities. We’ve found that part-time schedules can sometimes limit students from engaging in important learning experiences and fun opportunities that happen on days they aren’t in class. Our full-time program ensures that all students can take part in the full range of activities, fostering a more complete and enriching experience.

DO YOU TEACH FRENCH AT MILLPOND ACADEMY?

Yes, all of our students in Kindergarten to Grade 8 participate in French lessons. We follow the Ontario French as a Second Language Core curriculum for Grade 4 to 8. We also offer an introductory, oral vocabulary based program for our primary students.

DO YOUR STUDENTS WEAR UNIFORMS?

No. In an attempt to keep costs lower, there are no uniforms required. There is a dress code to ensure students are all comfortable and ready to learn! We do offer the option to purchase Millpond Academy spirit wear in the fall and spring.

HOW DO STUDENTS GET TO SCHOOL?

Families are required to arrange their own transportation to and from school, we do not offer bussing. Many families have arranged carpooling from Woodstock, Ingersoll, etc.

ARE YOU NUT FREE?

At this time we do not have any students in our school that have nut allergies and therefore we are not a nut free school. This is subject to change based on enrolment.

WHERE DO YOU TEACH GYM?

We are able to use the local park for our outdoor education classes and for indoor classes we rent the gymnasium at Innerkip Presbyterian Church. We also take trips for unique physical education activities such as Skiing and curling.

DO YOU TEACH THE ONTARIO SEX ED CURRICULUM?

We do not offer designated Health Classes to teach this curriculum, instead we actively promote open and honest discussions about these essential topics such as hygiene, puberty, healthy living, drug safety, consent, diversity, and more. We emphasize that parents are the primary source of information and guidance at home however these topics are still open for discussions at school as well. These conversations are extremely important for families to be having with their children and we believe they should permeate various lessons and discussions throughout a child's education. By fostering ongoing dialogue both at school and within families, we aim to empower students to become safe, healthy, and informed individuals who can navigate life confidently.

WHAT IS YOUR DIVERSITY AND INCLUSION STATEMENT?

At Millpond we welcome people of any race, gender, sexual orientation, and national or ethnic origin. All members of our community are treated with respect and dignity; all voices are honoured, and all contributions are valued. Our shared mission for the school is to nurture the potential of each child; to celebrate their individuality and provide a safe place for everyone to grow and learn.
